It makes them more drop resistant, as you can see in this test. We’ve clipped only the drop itself showing a Huawei Mate 70 Pro+ falling from 2m/6ft and the immediate aftermath. You can see the full video over on BiliBili.
The material also has scratch-resistant properties – if you watch the video, you can see the Mate and a titanium-clad iPhone get scuffed up with sandpaper. There are faint marks visible on the iPhone, but the Huawei Mate 70 Pro+ keeps its glossy finish.
That’s for the phone’s frame, the front is protected by Kunlun Glass 2nd generation, which has double the drop resistance of the original Kunlun Glass. You can see an old drop test featuring the Mate 60 Pro for a face-down fall. The back uses nylon to absorb impacts and further boost drop resistance.
